• Alien registration number (if the student is not a U.S. citizen)
• Student’s Driver's License Number/State ID Number (if you have one)
• 2021 Federal Tax Returns, including W-2 information, for student (and your spouse, if you are married)
• 2021 Federal Tax Returns, including W-2 information for your parents if you are a dependent student (generally under the age of 24)
• Records of untaxed income
• Cash, savings, and checking account balances
• Investments (do not include the home you live in)

FSA ID
An FSA ID is your username and password used to log onto and sign your FAFSA application. It can also be used to electronically sign Federal Student Aid documents and access other financial aid records. Both Student and Parent will need to create their own FSA ID!

What is the IRS Data Retrieval Tool?
The IRS Data Retrieval Tool allows students and parents to access the IRS tax return information needed to complete the FAFSA and transfer the data directly into their form from the IRS website. We strongly recommend using the IRS DRT to transfer data from the IRS into your FAFSA because it is easy, fast, and accurate. It also allows hassle-free processing for your financial aid application. In order to complete your FAFSA and use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, you and your parent(s) will need to have your 2021 tax return filed prior to completing a FAFSA application. If you do not use this tool, you may be asked to provide a federal tax return or tax return transcript from the IRS.
